Children's dentistry
A child's relationship with the dentist is formed in the first two or three visits and lasts a lifetime. So we use the first appointment to let the child get used to the room and the instruments, with no intervention unless something is urgent. What patience buys at the start is repaid in years of cooperation afterwards.
- First visit with no treatment
- Fissure sealing against decay
- Treatment of milk teeth
- Monitoring of tooth eruption and jaw growth

How we work with children
No surprises. We explain what we are going to do in words a child understands, show the instrument before using it, and announce each step. If a child is not cooperating that day, we do not force it — we rebook, unless there is pain that has to be dealt with.
We always tell parents the same thing: do not promise the child that “nothing will hurt”, and do not use the dentist as a threat. It is enough to say we are going to count teeth.
Prevention is worth most here
With children the greatest gain comes before a problem exists: fissure sealing, checking hygiene, and following the change from milk to adult teeth. A check-up every six months at this age does not mean six months of treatment — it means decay is caught while it is still a dot.
Frequently asked questions
When should a child first come?
Around their first birthday, or at the latest once the first few teeth are through. There is nothing to do at that stage — which is exactly what makes it a good first visit. The child meets the room without an unpleasant experience attached.
Should milk teeth be treated if they fall out anyway?
Yes. A milk tooth holds the space for the adult tooth coming underneath it. Lost too early, the neighbouring teeth tilt in and the adult tooth has nowhere to erupt. Besides which, decay in a milk tooth hurts just as much.
What is fissure sealing?
A protective layer applied to the deep grooves on the biting surfaces of adult molars as soon as they erupt. Those grooves are too narrow for toothbrush bristles, and that is where decay most often starts. It is painless and takes a few minutes.
