Oral surgery sounds more serious than it feels. Everything is done under local anaesthetic and takes less time than patients expect. What really determines recovery is not the procedure but how closely the first forty-eight hours are followed — so you get the instructions both spoken and in writing.

What we do
Routine and surgical extractions, including wisdom teeth that are partially erupted or lying in bone. Apicectomy, when a chronic infection at the root tip does not resolve even after repeated root canal treatment. Removal of cysts and small soft-tissue lesions. Bone grafting and sinus lift as preparation for implants.
Afterwards
The first two days matter most. Do not rinse and do not spit — the clot in the socket is what protects it. Cold compresses on the outside, in intervals. No hot drinks, no alcohol, no smoking, no physical exertion.
If pain increases on the third or fourth day instead of easing, get in touch. That is the one sign that genuinely warrants a review.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to remove a wisdom tooth that does not hurt?
Not necessarily. A wisdom tooth that has erupted properly, has an opposing tooth and can be cleaned has no reason to come out. It is removed when it is partially erupted and keeps becoming infected, when it pushes the tooth in front of it, or when decay develops beneath the gum where it cannot be treated.
How long is recovery?
Swelling peaks on the second day and then subsides. Most patients return to normal activity the next day, avoiding hot food, hard food and physical exertion for the first two or three days.
What is bone grafting?
Rebuilding bone where it has receded after a tooth has been missing for a long time. It is done when there is not enough bone for a stable implant — sometimes at the same appointment as placement, sometimes as a separate procedure a few months earlier.
