Collagen threads
Threads are placed into the subcutaneous tissue and mechanically lift slackened contours, then break down over several months while new collagen forms along their path. The effect is twofold: lifting straight away, and a gradual thickening of the tissue afterwards.

Where they are placed
Most often along the jawline, for a clearer contour, and in the cheek area to lift the middle third of the face. They are also used on the neck, and on the brows for a slight lift at the outer end.
The appointment
Carried out under local anaesthetic, taking thirty to forty-five minutes. The threads are placed through a fine cannula along pre-marked lines, and the tissue is then carefully repositioned.
The lifting effect is visible immediately but is masked by swelling for the first few days. A realistic assessment comes at three to four weeks, and the full collagen effect at two to three months.
Frequently asked questions
Do the threads stay in my face?
No. We use absorbable threads that break down over six to twelve months. What remains is the collagen formed along their path — which is why the effect outlasts the threads themselves.
How long is recovery?
Swelling and tenderness for three to seven days. For the first week avoid wide facial movements, sleeping face-down, saunas and dental treatment requiring the mouth to stay open for long periods. Bruising is possible.
Is this a replacement for a facelift?
No. Threads give a moderate lift in mild to moderate laxity. With significant excess skin the result would be disappointing, and in that case we will tell you so rather than perform a treatment that will not meet your expectations.
Can they be combined with fillers?
Yes, and the two often work better together — threads address laxity, fillers address lost volume. We decide the order and spacing based on the assessment.
